Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern the use of the Pololos app. By creating an account you declare that you have read and accepted them. If you do not agree with them, you must not use the app.

The short version: be an adult, be yourself, treat other people well, and do not use the app for anything other than meeting people.

This is a courtesy English translation. In case of any discrepancy, the Spanish version prevails.

1. Who we are and acceptance

Pololos is a dating app operated by the Pololos team ("we"). For any questions about these terms you can write to contacto@apppololos.cl.

Your acceptance of these terms is recorded when you create your account (timestamp and accepted version). If we publish substantial changes, we will ask you to accept them again.

2. The service

Pololos lets you:

  • Create a profile and discover nearby people according to your preferences.
  • Match and talk through an end-to-end encrypted chat.
  • Receive suggestions of venues and businesses to propose dates.
  • Answer an optional compatibility quiz.

Pololos deliberately limits the number of simultaneous matches: the goal of the service is for you to have real dates, not to accumulate conversations.

3. Requirements to use Pololos

  • You must be 18 or older. Pololos is a service exclusively for adults. Declaring a false age is grounds for account deletion.
  • You must provide truthful information in your profile: your photos must be yours and recent, and your details real.
  • One account per person, for personal, non-transferable use.
  • You must not have been previously banned from Pololos for breaching these terms.

4. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity that occurs on your account. If you suspect unauthorized access, change your password and let us know. You can delete your account and all your data at any time from your profile (see the Privacy Policy).

5. Prohibited conduct

On Pololos it is strictly forbidden to:

  • Harass, threaten, insult, or discriminate against other people.
  • Send unsolicited sexual content.
  • Impersonate another person or create fake profiles.
  • Post photos of nudity, explicit violence, or illegal content.
  • Use the app for scams, sales, advertising, spam, or any unauthorized commercial purpose (business accounts have their own channel, see section 8).
  • Ask other users for money or request financial information.
  • Use the app for any activity contrary to applicable law.
  • Attempt to breach the security of the service, extract data in an automated way, or reverse engineer the app.

6. Your content

The content you upload (photos, bio, answers) remains yours. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to store it and display it within the app for the sole purpose of operating the service (for example, showing your profile to other users according to your preferences). The license ends when you delete the content or your account.

Photos go through an automatic content review when uploaded, and may be reviewed by a person if another user reports them. You are solely responsible for the content you publish: do not upload third-party material without authorization.

7. Moderation and sanctions

Breaching these terms may result in:

  • Warnings within the app.
  • Temporary suspension of the account while a case is reviewed.
  • Permanent ban of the account in serious or repeated cases.

Permanent bans arising from other users' reports always go through human review. If you believe a sanction was a mistake, you can appeal by writing to contacto@apppololos.cl.

In addition, every user can block other people to stop seeing them and being seen by them, with no justification required.

8. Business accounts

  • Venues and businesses can create a business account to appear as a date venue suggestion.
  • Every business account goes through prior approval before becoming visible.
  • Business information (address, services, promotions) must be truthful and up to date. False or misleading information is grounds for rejection or removal.
  • Businesses receive only anonymous, aggregated statistics (views, date proposals); never users' personal data.
  • Promotions published by a business are the exclusive responsibility of that business; Pololos is not a party to that consumer relationship.

9. Dates and safety

Pololos connects people, but does not run criminal background checks or verify users' legal identity. Interactions inside and outside the app are your sole responsibility. We recommend:

  • Meet your date in public places, at least the first few times.
  • Tell someone you trust where you will be.
  • Do not share financial information or send money to anyone you meet on the app.
  • Report and block any behavior that makes you uncomfortable.

10. Privacy

The processing of your personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. Summary: we collect the bare minimum, your messages are end-to-end encrypted, your exact location is never stored, and we do not sell your data.

11. Intellectual property

The app, its name, logo, design, and code are the property of the Pololos team or its licensors. These terms do not grant you any rights over them, other than personal use of the app in accordance with these conditions.

12. Service availability

Pololos is provided "as is" and "as available". We work to keep the service running continuously and securely, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability or the total absence of errors. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features of the service, giving reasonable advance notice when the change is significant.

13. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Chilean law, Pololos is not liable for the acts or omissions of other users or for what happens in encounters outside the app. Nothing in these terms limits the rights granted to you by mandatory rules, including Law No. 19.496 on consumer protection, where applicable.

14. Account termination

You can stop using Pololos and delete your account at any time, from your profile. We may suspend or delete your account if you breach these terms, in accordance with the moderation process described in section 7. After deletion, your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Each version is identified with a number and date. If a change is substantial, we will notify you in the app and ask you to accept the new version to continue using the service.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Chile. Any dispute will be submitted to the competent courts of Chile, without prejudice to any non-waivable rights granted to you by law.
